United Pursuit Band

5 Mar

Today’s mixtape is my hands-down favorite new band: United Pursuit. But – short post today. I am swamped with papers due on David Copperfield and Once Upon a Time in the West….

The front page of United Pursuit’s website says it all:

“We are a family of best friends.

Our dreams and passions have fastened us together,

held strong by God and our love for each other.

We also like to play music together.”

This is more than a band. This if a family. They’re not quite as heart warming as the Brady Bunch, but they get pretty darn close. Although they may seem like big-timers, having groups like Jesus Culture covering their songs – like Come Away and Break Every Chain – this is really just a group of friends in their twenties from good-ole rocky top Tennessee. On a whim, these friends wildly decided to all move in together in what they call The Banks House, and do life – united. Playing music frequently, they started occasionally asking their friends in high school and college to come over, hang out, play music, and worship God. This escalated into what is now a weekly Tuesday gathering in The Banks House, which YOU are free to go to if you are ever in the Knoxville area! Tell me this isn’t a friendly group of folks? Welcome to my living room. Yes, we are famous. Check out the Facebook page for it here.

Can’t make it to their house? Don’t worry, their album Live at The Banks House will make you feel like you’re there, right at home.

United Pursuit’s music is pumped full of synergistic energy, with talented musicians banging away on almost every instrument you can think of.

The result? A symphony of youthful, adventurous passion. A passion for more out of this life – for more love, for more family, for more God.
